Seller Description

I have owned this bike since 2010 when I purchased it as a repairable write-off having less than 5000 kms on the clock. Judging by the sticker that was on the bike, a Ulysses Club rider had not only grown old disgracefully but crashed the bike rather disgracefully. The right side was pretty much wiped out and some damage to the left. I replaced many parts including the forks and some plastics, had her inspected and re-registered. She has been an extremely reliable bike since and I would class her as probably the best bike I have owned since I began riding 27 years ago (I have owned a Suzuki TS-185, Honda XL-250, Kawasaki KLR-600, Honda NX-650, Kawasaki KLR-650, Kawasaki GPX-750.)You may want to read some reviews on this bike, the ones I have read I believe are accurate. This bike is probably best classed as a commuter- too 'small' for touring and not a 'hard revver' for 'sports' riding, but excellent for casual riding around town or to work and back. Not to say she's a slouch, she is spritely and excellent for weaving through still traffic because of her low-mid range torque. Most of Kawasaki's development of this bike seems to have been into the engine. It's a great engine with excellent low-mid range torque. Suspension, transmission, handling and brakes are simple but good. Her economy I have found to be about 20km/l casual riding, and about 21.5-22km/l cruising with the taller gearing I use. I am 5'11'' and have weighed about 63-73 kgs while riding her and find her very suitable for me. Her seating position is very neutral and I have had no problems with pressure on my wrists or back on longer trips. The seat is quite comfortable and I start to get a bit saddle sore after about 1.5-2 hours.I have used her a few days a week to get to work and back which has been a 30-50 km round trip (which is why the kms aren't very high for a bike 12 years old.) I haven't taken her on any great adventures as my wife was getting less confident as a pillion as she got older. I'm getting a little old and my wife is getting more worried with me riding now, hence I am selling her.I have put some extras on her including HID headlights, green LED lights for being seen better at night (some LED's have died on the left side,) stainless steel laser cut radiator protector, plastic headlight protector, Ventura gear sack rack (no bag but I do recommend the RJays Explorer,) side fairing protectors (came with the bike when I bought it,) a Throttle Rocker, reflective green tape on the wheel rims, LED rear/brake light globe, imitation carbon fibre side mirrors, and 16 tooth front sprocket (normal is 15.) I also put a Japanese Kanji on her side which reads "Praying Mantis Ninja" in honour of her colour and model. The stickers are a little worn now. She also comes with a Haynes service manual, brake lock with alarm, two original keys and Kawasaki key number tag, waterproof bike cover, and a near full container of oil. She has Dunlop Roadsmart II tyres on which are only a few months old. Good tyres, but I prefer the Pirelli Angel GT's which I used previously. I put the larger front sprocket on for two reasons. The standard sprocket makes the speedo run 7% out. The 16 tooth brings that back to 1% (101 on the speedo is 100km/h.) With her torque, I found the standard sprocket was too small and she was revving quite high (for my liking) at highway speeds. She has been very reliable and starts quickly and easily. Only problems have been a clutch cable and drive chain breaking (at different times,) and worn rear brake pads. For the RWC I replaced the drive chain and sprockets, and rear brake disc and pads. She has always been garaged or undercover, even at work. She isn't in perfect condition. She still carries some minor cosmetic damage from the original crash and some wear and tear from being on the road some 12 years. But she is straight, clean, reliable, loses no discernible amount of engine oil, nor blows any smoke. I have always maintained her myself with mechanics doing more complex work such as valve clearance and throttle synchronization. I have paper work for parts bought and when work was completed.

I recently serviced her and no work should need to be done for a while. Next service she could do with a new air filter element and assembly (part number 11[hidden information],) and spark plugs. I have never treated her harshly or thrashed her. Usually the revs have been between 3-4000, with the occasional 5000 reached for a quick take off. I have 'blown the cob-webs out' on a rare occasion, but she doesn't need that done to her to get her going and I find her exhaust note rather harsh in the upper revs. Usually she is a quiet bike and I get more wind noise from my helmet than engine noise on the highway. I have always used BP or Caltex 98 or 95 octane fuel and the recommended Castrol oil.The RWC will last another 27 days, and the registration runs out on the 18th April, 2020 giving you a few weeks to transfer the rego. Please don't waste our time with false bids, and you bid to buy not to look. She is located at Pakenham, Victoria. I am giving 10 days which includes 2 weekends plus a public holiday which should be plenty of time to come and inspect. If you want a test ride you will need photo ID, a full riders license. If you break it, you buy it at market value and pay for damage to others.I hope I have been comprehensive with this description, but if you would like any further information please message me. She is advertised elsewhere, so the auction may prematurely end if she sells. If you would like to make an offer, message me (don't waste our time with anything silly.)Happy bidding.
