Here is a Rare Opportnunity to own an original Unrestored Survivor Dry Californian "Pedigree"1965 Plymouth Barracuda Formula S .The car now drives and stops fine as we have done the brakes and fitted thenew wheel cyls , hoses and the master cyl had already been done in the US , so its a driver, butithasmost of the exhaust is missing!The motor runs fine, although it sounds like it might have a big end knock , or maybe the rockers need adjusting ? (has virtually no exhaust though so its loud and hard to hear properly)I have done some research and initially it seems hazey as to how many Formula S Barracuds were made in 65 , but I found an article from an old forum post and a guy had worked at Chrysler and had Historical info from back in the day and it turns out they made 2995Formula S Barracudas were made in 1965 , that's both Manual and Auto .So breaking the numbers downyou can bet there were less than 2000 Auto Formula S Barracudas , and how many were crashed or got crushed ? Making a fairly unmolested survivor west coast car like this a rare thing nowadays .The coding on the Fender Tag all matches up to being Code 31 for the Hipo 235 HP 273 Super Commando and number 2 which designates it as a Formula S . Paint code is SS4AA , which decodes as SS=Ivory Main colour ,4=Racing Strip on a Barracuda , AA= GoldStripeTrim code is P4Y which decodes asGold Vinyl Bucket Seats.

This car has its "born with" original A-273 Designation engine with all the correct bracketry etc and correct numbered AFB 4 barrel carb , correct air cleaner , Chrome Oil and PCV Cap etc.. For those who are not aware the Formula S has so many great features over a standard V8 Barracuda which include and are much more valuable , rare and sought after .And even better is that it is aDry near Rust FreeCalifornia from the back of Pasadena originally .Some of the Features of the Formula S Package include : the Factory wide 14 x 5.5 Wheels(and long wheel nuts are there also which is rare ): Dash Tacho and sender unit , Wood Steering Wheel, Heavy Duty Shocks ,HDRear Leaf Springs and HD Torsion Bars, 10 inch brakes all round, as Well as the 235HP 273 which gets a hotter solid cam , Factory AFB 4 Barrel with special chrome air cleaner ,Special crackle finish Rocker covers with ribbed inserts , chrome oil cap andPCVValve cover. Being a 1965 it has the closed chamber heads . Its all untouched and is the Correct A273 Engine designation, correct carb number , correct distributor number etc.. The car wears "most" (except for the boot and LH guard) of itsFactory White Paint with Factory Gold Racing Stripe .Now we have the warm and fuzzy stuff out of the way , thecar probably does need a full resto .Everything iswell worn , but Its got all its original parts , so basicallyall complete, except2 x Hubcaps , the boot lock , 2 mouldingsin the rear cargo area and and one wheel arch mould (although 3 need replacing due to damage). Except for some light surface rust in a surface few spots , its basically arust free dry car in all areas . I have pics of the floor pan so you can see its just got some light piiting in the RH front floor , but its pretty damn clean overall . The body does have some dints as shown and on the roof for some reason , but its still an easy body body job for a repaint . The interior is all worn and needs to be replaced , but you can buy everything from Legendary Auto Interiors . If you are looking for a project to keep and want something that will have a good return value at the end then this is for you . With the risks and costs with the asbestos and importing getting so annoying and difficult these days , you could risk wasting thousands and thousands plus many headaches if you bring your own car.
