Seller Description

Quite rare now first year model GT185 ( I waited years for a good unrestored one) with nice tank-styling/side panel badges/smooth exhausts and bakelite clocks. This one had been stored for many years- filled full of oil to protect seals and started regularly though.SINCE LAST YEAR WORK DONE.----------------------------------------------Engine bores cleaned+ new rings.

Carbs removed- ultrasonic clean + balanced (Alf's motorcycles in Worthing). Points/timing set. Engine oil changed. "New old stock" tacho (old one had thread damage).New heavy duty chain + sprockets (I think old one was ok really....still have).New petrol tap (have old one-needs washer). New allen bolts for engine cases- a few philips heads were damaged (still a few to change-supplied). New air filter mesh. Original "S" Suzuki mirrors. Seat in great condition. It's a lovely bike to ride ......was my first "big bike" in 1976 when I passed my test. This GT185K is actually in better shape than the one I had in 1976....must have escaped the spotty youths !
I personally think the first (1973) model has the best looks. The drum brake(front) is a bit mediocre as with many 70's bikes. I think this might be due for a good clean to be honest. Bike is MOT/Tax exempt.V5 in my name. No other paperwork.
Sunday: One small thing I forgot to mention. I leave the bike on the mainstand in the garage. If it is left on it's side stand for a few days, there is a very small oil drip from gear selector shaft. I did replace the seal last year. Apparently this is common with some of these GTs having read through some of the online forums. Just to let you know.
The bike is how I like them....original/unrestored with some expected wear for 47 years old....i.e. some chrome pitting/engine cases + forks oxidised.....if you want bright + shiny, this will need doing. The paint + side panels are great (one small chip on tank- last photo). Exhausts + wheel rims not at all bad. A couple of shallow dings on r/h exhaust.I would leave it exactly as it is personally. It starts and runs great and I do not know of any issues although old bikes will always require TLC as time goes on. A GT185 just sold for ВЈ4600 and they are coming up for this sort of money and more. Start/reserve is ВЈ3200....collection/your courier from Worthing, Sussex, BN14 7RF . Payment by bank transfer before collection please.
