Seller Description
Suzuki TS250 L 1974 M Reg, V5 Present and registered in my name, Tax and MOT Exempt.
With VJMC dating letter.
For sale is my Suzuki TS250 L 1974 M Reg, which I bought about 12 years ago, it was a US import that is now UK registered with the V5 in my name, it is registered as a Historic Vehicle sodoesn't require Road Tax, it is also MOT exempt so just needs insurance to use on the roads and classic insurance is not expensive.
I bought this TS with all good intensions of carrying out a full nut and bolt restoration, well as happens to a lot of us I never got around to therestoration it just sat in the shed covered with a blanket, then around this time last year I decided to see what it needed to get it on the road, the engine was checked over and after fitting a new piston and ultrasonic cleaning of the carb it was up and running, it now starts very easily and rides well with nice gear changes through all the gears and the clutch works well, brakes are very 1970's and probably wouldbenefit from some new shoes or may just need using a little more.
When I got the bike the petrol tank, side panel, headlight and headlight ears were all brush painted gloss black, I managed to get most of the black paint off so it does look better but it wouldbenefitfrom a repaint and some new decals which areavailable for this mode on eBayl.
Ride or Restore:-
The bike could be ridden on the road as it is, the lights, brake light, horn and speedo all work, if you did want to ride it you might want to change the tyres first as they have some cracks in the sidewalls, they could well be as old as the bike (47 years old).
Alternatively it would make a good project for somebody to restore, I looked at a few TS's before I bought this one and it was one of the bestavailable at the time, with good folks, a solid frame with only light surface rust in places and not many partsmissing.
Now for the bad bits, its got the wrong seat, chain guard is missing, you turn the battery on with a switch as theres no ignition or keys, I think the speedo and rev counter are from a later 1978 TS250, the rev counter is all loose inside sodoesn't work but could maybe be fixed as I understand you can open them up, all the chrome work isdull and marked and the rearmudguard has some rust, there are some other things that will need a little attention but on the whole for a 47 year old bike its not too bad, I'm just trying to be as honest as I can be and might be being a little unfair to the bike, please study the photos and make your own mind up.
The photos form part of thedescription so please zoom in and have a good look at them, I have tried to showeverythingas best I can.
If you have any question please message me and I'd be happy to answer if I can.
Cash on collection or bank transfer please.
On 06-Apr-21 at 08:35:21 BST, seller added the following information:I've had a few questions about the bike and thought it would be easier to answer them here for everyone to see, see below:-Inside the petrol tank looks clean and pretty much rust free. There are some soft dents in the petrol tank. The side panel has asmall piece missing at the top righthand mounting point, but only small and I'm sure could be repaired.Yes all the original seat mountingpoints are there and the catch is still fitted. The bike has a aftermarket K&N typeair filter and the battery is fitted inside the original air box.The two stroke oil tank and system is all present and fully working.Rear wheel has some marks/dents on the chrome rim butdoesn't affect the tyrefitment. That above covers all the things I have being asked so far, but if anybody need to know anything else please message me, I did try to add some additional photos but eBaywon't let me change the photos as the item has bids.
