ANSWERED. I bought this
bike in March 2018, i had been looking for this model and colour because it was
one of the first big bikes I had back in 1970. My intentions were to put it on
the road but due to other commitments never actually got round to doing it.
The story I got
from the previous owner was that it was a bike that was originally a US model
and was re imported back to the UK in 1992 when it was re-registered on UK
plates with an age-related number. It was fitted with electronic ignition and
new carburettors and he rode it for a very short time before putting it into
dry storage where it remained for the best part of 25 years until a house move
made him decide to sell it which is when I bought it.

I have no
paperwork to back this up as the previous owner had mislaid everything apart
from the log book and one MOT which was under the bike seat, this MOT was
issued in April 1993 which backs up part of the story, i have the V5 in my
name.
The odometer is
showing 10456 miles, I have no idea if this is the correct mileage but the one
old mot that I have states mileage then as 9772 which again backs up the story.
In the 3 years
that I have had it it has never been on the road, it is started regularly and
moved about, it starts easily and everything is working as it should.
I have had the
inside of the tank professionally coated; it wasn’t too bad but decided to get
it done to be on the safe side. I have fitted new petrol lines and taps, new
battery and an aftermarket seat, i have also recently changed engine and gearbox
oil.
Paintwork is very
good and chrome is ok, exhaust pipes and silencers are not brilliant chrome
wise but are solid.
Dare say that
having been stored for so long there will be one or two niggly bits that need
sorting out before it goes on the road but basically everything is there and
working.
Not many
unrestored ones about in this condition so time to let it go to someone who has
the time to use it as it should be used, on the road and not stuck in the
garage. Viewing can be arranged more or less anytime by prior arrangement,
location is WN2 area of Hindley, Wigan.Willing to haggle a bit but in no rush to sell so please no stupid offers.
