The Alfa Romeo GT was built on the platform of the Alfa Romeo 156. It was also based on structural elements of the Alfa Romeo 147, such as the structure of the front and rear multi-link suspensions. Its body type can be defined as a 2-door sports coupe-hatchback. The GT is a front wheel drive vehicle. The company worked on the exterior design of the car.I am Bertone, which, in principle, explains the prevalence of the external concept of the 147th series, rather than the 156th. The Alfa Romeo 156 was designed by Alfa Centro Stile under the leadership of Walter de Silva, not Bertone. If you look at the car, you can immediately notice its rather convex outlines of the side surfaces and the rear of the body. Compared to the Alfa Romeo 156, the GT is slightly longer and lower. The wheelbase is 2596 mm, the length of the car is 4489 mm, the width is 1763 mm, and the height is 1362 mm.
Several engine options are available for the sports coupé. The top version isXia 3.2-liter gasoline V6 with 237 hp. The second most powerful is the 2-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine with 163 hp. with JTS direct injection system. The least powerful engine is the 138 hp 1.8-liter engine.
Also not without a diesel version - a 1.9-liter diesel engine with a JTDM direct injection system, producing 148 hp. technical characteristics. One sedits are enough for almost 1000 km, while the volume of the gas tank is only 63 liters.
The choice of cars is equipped with a 5-speed or 6-speed manual gearbox, except for configurations with a 1.8-liter gasoline engine (only a 5-speed gearbox is installed).
The interior of the GT also bears similarities to the Alfa Romeo 147. These include the dashboard design, but the round gauge piping and the center section of the dashboard have a dark silver finish similar to the GTA model. This design does not bother the driver. Sitting in indriver's seat, it feels like everything is done for the comfort of the driver. The location of the steering wheel, pedals, control sticks - all this does not create any difficulties when driving. The space in the back allows you to sit quite comfortably in the rear seats, which are made according to the same pattern as the front ones. However, if you move the front seats back as much as possible, then the passenger sitting in the back seat will feel some constraint, both at the level of the legs and at the level of the head. The Alfa Romeo GT has a fairly roomy trunkvolume of 320 liters. In terms of practicality, it is in no way inferior to the luggage compartment of the 156 series sports station wagon. In order to open the rear passenger compartment door, pull the handle located on the side of the driver's seat. Alternatively, use the unlock button on the remote control key fob.
The standard equipment of the car includes: anti-lock braking system (ABS); emergency braking amplifier (Brake assist); electronic brake force distribution (EBD), driver airbags and passfat, side airbags, belt pretensioners; "Active" head restraints, child seat mountings, electric front windows; heated mirrors; electric mirrors; climate control; Cruise control; on-board computer; remote opening of the trunk lid; headlight adjustment; power steering; central locking; immobilizer; electronic key identification system; audio preparation; CD radio; alloy wheels; bumpers in body color.
Additional equipment includes: navigation system; sensorrain; control of car functions on the steering wheel; telephone; automatic switching on of headlights; parking sensors; height adjustment of the driver's and passenger's seats; leather interior; xenon headlights; headlight washer; MP3 radio, CD changer, amplifier and subwoofer.
In 2006, Alfa Romeo introduced the Alfa Romeo GT JTDM 1.9 Q2 version. Q2 is a new limited-slip differential designed to enhance the vehicle's active safety. The new Q2 differential is currently only available on models with a 150 hp JTDM engine, but soon it will be available on other versions.x lineup. Alfa Romeo has developed the Q2 system to ensure maximum traction control in all driving conditions, as the torque transmitted to the wheels from diesel engines has increased significantly in recent years.
The system is based on a Torsen mechanical limited slip differential. The role of the differential is to distribute traction between the front wheels depending on the position of the lever. Combined with the unique independent front suspension, the system provides a particularly efficientth dynamic control over the car. In addition, the Q2 system reduces the effect of understeer during acceleration and makes the car more stable when braking.
In the same year, Alfa Romeo introduces the limited edition Alfa Romeo GT BlackLine. The new series is distinguished only by its striking appearance: the body is painted in black metallic, inserts on the side mirrors, a chrome exhaust and exclusive 18-inch wheels. The interior is finished in black leather, steering wheel with red stitching, aluminum sports pedals and a gear lever. In saBose audio system is installed in the bosom. The two engines offered for this version remain intact. This is a 163-horsepower 2-liter gasoline engine and a 1.9-liter turbodiesel with 148 horsepower.
