The X1 is a compact five-seat crossover. Car production began at the Leipzig, Germany plant in October 2009. The whole process of designing the model, from the formulation of the technical task to the descent of the X1 from the conveyor, took only three years. The design is sustained in the new corporate style of the company with a mass of curved lines and fancy sidewalls, consisting of deep reliefs and bent stampings. The radiator grille divided in half is the hallmark of the brand. The luminous rims of the headlights are hidden under transparent caps. Fluorescent lamps are also provided. Signature Bavarian style is continued by extended wings, profiledth hood, muscular sidewalls. The front bumper has a solid air intake. Bumpers, wheel arches and sills, as befits an off-road vehicle, are protected from possible damage by black linings. And the bottom front and back is covered with silver metal plates.

The interior of the X1 will not disappoint the connoisseurs of stylish interior. The salon can be called graceful, comfortable and thoughtful without exaggeration. The center console is slightly turned towards the driver, the three-spoke steering wheel has a thickened rim, in the upper partthe front panel is successfully integrated with a widescreen 8.8-inch display, which displays the maps of the navigation system and displays the image of the rear view camera and other useful information. Located in the central tunnel, the iDrive multimedia system controller allows you to quickly change various settings. The trunk is not capable of boasting record dimensions, but it pleases with a wide opening and a flat floorohm. The reclining rear seat backrest folds down in a 40/20/20 ratio to increase the luggage compartment interior from 420 liters to 1,350 liters (maximum capacity). An electrically operated panoramic glass roof is available as an option.

The drive can be rear (such modifications are called sDrive) or full (xDrive). The engine range of BMW's smallest crossover includes five engines with an unconditional emphasis on the diesel family. The basic modifications were the petrol sDrive18i (150 hp) anddiesel xDrive18d (143 HP). The most massive modification: a two-liter diesel xDrive20d with a capacity of 177 hp. The diesel modification complements the picture: xDrive23d with a biturbo diesel "four" with a capacity of 204 hp. The petrol version of the xDrive28i with a three-liter "six" has a power of 258 hp. The engines are paired with a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. It is expected that the range of power units will be replenished.

The innovative potential also manifests itself in the equipment of the BMW X1 models with the most advanced suspension systems,which include a double-pivot front suspension with control arms or aluminum double-pivot front suspension with traction arms, as well as a five-link lightweight steel rear suspension, high-precision steering, powerful brakes, Dynamic Stability Control with traction control and, as an option, Performance System Control acting on the brakes for a particularly dynamic driving style.

The X1 scored highly in all safety categories, with the highest standard of these tests: five stars intests Euro NCAP. The car provides the highest level of active and passive safety. The updated crossover BMW X1 2013 model year debuted at the April 2012 New York Auto Show. The novelty can be distinguished from its predecessor by a different front bumper with silver details, enlarged “nostrils” of the radiator grille, updated side sills and a modified rear bumper. The car received a different design of the headlights with LED illumination and ring lights for day trips in combination with xenon headlights, as well as a new "fog light" bezel. A diesel version xDrive23d with a 204-horsepower 2.0-liter engineand replaced by the xDrive25d modification, equipped with a 218-horsepower engine of the same volume, the maximum torque of which is 450 Nm. In addition, the car will be offered with a modest 116-horsepower diesel unit and rear-wheel drive. But this version will not be available to Russian buyers.

In our market, the updated BMW X1 is offered with the same 2.0-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine with 150 hp. (equipped only with a 6-speed manual), as well as its turbocharged modifications with a recoil of 184 and 245 hp. Posice can be paired with an 8-speed automatic. For all engines of the BMW X1 2012, it was possible to achieve a significant reduction in fuel consumption (up to 0.9 liters per 100 km for diesel models with an eight-speed automatic transmission). At the beginning of June 2015, the Bavarian company officially presented a new generation of the compact crossover BMW X1 under the symbol - F48. The developers have tried hard to improve this machineabundance. Its design, dimensions, equipment and technical characteristics have been improved.

The main changes affected the chassis of the crossover. If the predecessor was based on the "trolley" from the station wagon model BMW 3 Touring, now the crossover is created on the basis of the front-wheel drive platform of the UKL1 model, which is familiar to motorists from the new MINI Cooper III and the compact Gran Tourer and 2-Series Active.

The second-generation BMW X1 is 39 mm (4439 mm) shorter, but 21 mm (1821 mm) wider and 53 mm (1598 mm) higher than its predecessor. The updated BMW X1 looks much neater and more compact. The radiator grille has become chrome and is located slightly higher than its predecessor. It is harmoniously combined with a protective decorative body kit in front of the bonnet. The hood itself will turn out to be shorter, and the rear window of the crossover has received smallerth tilt angle. In general, the designers also slightly changed the appearance of the bumper, body and optics. Having become more modern, the BMW X1 has not ceased to be bright and stylish. This applies to both appearance and internal characteristics.

The interior of this car has always been comfortable and cozy to move around. But here, too, some changes were made. The designers have completely redesigned the front panel, a new instrument panel and a stylish new multifunction steering wheel. The center console has also been redesigned, the materials of finishing have become muchabout better quality.

The wheelbase of the crossover has increased by 90 mm - up to 2670 mm. Together with the transverse engine arrangement, this allowed to expand the interior space. It is noted that the knees of the rear passengers are given an additional 37 mm (an optional rear sofa with longitudinal adjustments can add another 66 mm), and the trunk volume has increased by 85 liters to 505 liters. If you fold the back of the rear sofa, the BMW X1 will take on board up to 1,550 liters of luggage. It is also worth noting that the second generation crossover received longer zrear side doors for easy access to the second row of seats.

The owner is waiting for a wide list of additional equipment and available options already in the basic configuration. In addition to the stock modification, the car is available in four more versions: SporLine, xLine, Advantage, M Sport. Each of them is distinguished by its individual stylistic design, both in the exterior and in the interior.

Already in the base on the updated BMW X1, LED daytime running lights and light-alloy wheels of a new design R17 or R18 are installed with a tire size of 225/50 or 225/45 correspondingnno. The range of body colors available to order has been replenished with a metallic brown - Sparkling Brown.

The driver is now assisted by new apps from the updated ConnectedDrive system, such as Eco Pro Analyzer for lower fuel consumption and Online Entertainment.

The role of the base engine is performed by a 2-liter turbocharged "four" with 192 hp. This motor is installed on the sDrive20i (front-wheel drive) and xDrive20i (all-wheel drive) modifications. A more powerful version of the xDrive25i is also offered, which received a 2.0-liter engine with a capacity of 231 h.p. (230Nm). The range of diesel units is represented by the 2.0-liter xDrive20d (190 HP), sDrive18d (150 HP) and xDrive25d (231 HP) engines.

The front-wheel drive BMW X1 with a diesel engine will receive a 6-speed manual transmission, the others - an 8-range automatic.

The weakest crossover versions - petrol and diesel - are offered only with front-wheel drive, while for the rest the all-wheel drive system will be standard. The manufacturer claims that the all-wheel drive system, which is equipped with a crossover, has been thoroughly modernized: for example,giving tractive effort is reduced by 30%. The crossover has received many driver assistants and - for the first time in the family - an adaptive suspension with a system for selecting driving modes. You can choose between Sport, Comfort and Economy modes.
