The Z3 Roadster is an open car with a roadster body. It was first shown in Geneva in October 1995. And immediately became a movie star - she played the main automotive role in one of the films about the adventures of British superspy James Bond.
Inspired by sports cars from the 50s, the Z3 combines ptro-styling with modern filling. The open body soft top has a semi-automatic electro-hydraulic drive as standard and automatic on request. Aggressive "nostrils" of the false radiator grille, slanting headlights that distinguish the roadster from other models of the company, side "gills" evoke the appearance of a predatory shark, embodied in metal and glass. Created according to the classic scheme - the engine in the front, the drive wheels in the rear - this car allows you to take very sharp turns at high speed without fear ofaxles due to the wide wheel track, almost ideal axle load, low center of gravity, in combination with rigid suspension and precise power steering. And the highly efficient and reliable braking system with ABS and disc brakes on all wheels, combined with the automatic stability control with traction control (ADC + T), will ensure the car's control in all situations.
The Z3 Coupe was first introduced in the fall of 1998. Based on the Z3 Roadster, it comes with a closed 2-seater body and a rigidI hear.
In general, this is not even a coupe, but a very rare combination - a sports station wagon. Thanks to this, the Z3 has an acceptable trunk in terms of volume and not a cramped interior. True, by the standards of a sports car - if your height is more than 180 centimeters, you really want to move the seat further than possible.
Among sports cars, the Z3 looks like a dwarf - only four meters in length. But the kid's figure is the most sporty - from a long, almost half-car bonnet to spectacular, Porsche-style rear wheel arches.
Of course, on the Autobahn Z3 will not be able to compete with either Ferrari or Dodge Vip.er. Its standard speed limit of 230 km / h is easy to achieve in a classic sedan. True, the driving experience will be different - the "Zeta" has all the habits - suspension stiffness, a sharp steering wheel, acceleration dynamics - purely sporty. And if the element of real sports cars is straight as an arrow of the Autobahn, then the element of the kid is narrow, winding country roads. (In Europe, of course. The quality of the coverage there is the same as on the highways, only the roads themselves are narrower. On our country roads you can only safely drive an armored personnel carrier.)
The Z3 uses a five-speed manual transmission with crisp, shortshifting and precise lever strokes. Perfectly matched gear ratios ensure high dynamics throughout the entire speed range.
Salon Z3 is made in sports-racing style. Covering like Kevlar, bright colors, anatomical seats, an abundance of devices. However, everything is ergonomic, well thought out, convenient and practical. As the saying goes, BMW is always BMW.
The Z3 is in high demand, but the specifics of the production is that the cars were assembled in America, then sent to Germany for testing, and only after that they were put up for sale. CaThe most affordable variant of the Z3 is a 1.8-liter, 116 hp engine. The car has a moderate temperament and is intended not so much for sports driving as for quiet walks. Slightly more dynamic and faster is the second 4-cylinder version of the Z3 (1.9 liters, 140 hp). An inline-six with a volume of 2.8 liters and a capacity of under two hundred forces is what makes the Z3 a truly exciting sports car. Excellent acceleration dynamics, high top speed behind the wheel of a small, windy roadster - all this is perceiveda hundred times sharper than, say, a BMW sedan with the same engine and similar parameters.
In addition to the standard modification, there is an option for those who like it hot - the M Roadster (introduced in Geneva in 1997). It is distinguished by the most powerful engine (in-line "six" with a working volume of 3.2 liters from the BMW M3), spectacular interior design (colored inserts for seats and a number of additional devices) and the absence of "helping" systems (like the same ADC + T). Such a car shows excellent agility, but does not forgive mistakes either. All in all, the thrill and adrenaline rush to the taco driverabout the copy are provided. Especially on a snowy track ...
In March 1999, a modification with a 2.0 liter 6-cylinder engine was released. In 2000, these cars got new 2.2- and 3.0-liter engines with 170 and 231 hp. The family of 2-seater Z3 cars includes roadsters with engines of 118-231 hp. and a coupe with only a 6-cylinder unit of 231 hp.
In 2003, a spy photo of the next generation BMW Z3 emerged from a test track in Sweden. Despite the camouflage, it is easy to say that the new Z3, codenamed E85, will be larger.the existing model. The new model will also get a more spacious cabin and more luggage space.
It is expected that the new Z3 will receive a new range of engines. It will be opened by an entry-level 2.0-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine with a capacity of 143 horsepower. The range will continue with a 190-horsepower 2.5-liter unit and a 3.0-liter "six" with a capacity of over 230 hp. At the top will be the M version of the roadster, which will appear about a year after the launch of the main model, and will be equipped with a 3.2-horsepower in-line "six" with a capacity of 343 hp.adine forces.
Borrowing suspension elements from the BMW 3-Series, the new Z3 is expected to have better roadholding than the existing model. The main competitors will be the next generation Mercedes SLK and the Audi TT.
