Nissan Maxima is an E-class sedan with a transverse engine and front-wheel drive.

In handling, Nissan's designers have made great strides. The variable power steering has excellent feedback, allowing very precise and easy maneuvers (including emergency) at all speeds, as well as very quickly stabilizecar when going straight. Combined with efficient and precise brakes and a four-channel ABS that intervenes gently and precisely, not earlier or later than necessary. This has taken active vehicle safety to new heights and has been appreciated by consumers. However, the grip of the tires on slippery roads is not entirely satisfactory. The suspension is quite comfortable, but at speeds of 40-70 km / h it rather actively reacts to minor irregularities, transmitting blows to the body, which, moreover, at speeds close to maximum,begins to resonate in combination with the whistle from the oncoming wind and the noise of the tires.

Maxima QX was produced in variants with V-shaped 2.0-; 2.5- and 3.0-liter (140, 190 and 193 hp respectively) six-cylinder 24-valve lightweight engines (not noisy). They were also retrofitted with special hydraulic supports that dampen all vibrations (on the model with a 3.0-liter engine, also with "active" control). Taken together, this provided excellent characteristics of comfort, dynamics (in third gear, the car is easily acceleratedavailable up to 110 km / h) and safety (airbags for driver and passenger are standard). The automatic transmission works very clearly and practically without delay. It is better to aggregate it with more powerful engines, since the 2.0-liter is very difficult to accelerate this 2-ton sedan (14.1 s / 100 km).
