The debut of the Peugeot 607 took place in March 2001. The car replaced the popular but outdated 605 model. The design turned out to be original and elegant: smooth soft lines of the body, sloping roof, interestingly shaped taillights.

The interior is a worthy continuation of the exterior and is fully consistent with the class of the car. The interior space is used with maximum rationality and is distinguished by high-quality finishing materials. Plastic inserts painted "wood-like" fit organically into the interior, meeting the traditionluxury class. Simple harmonious lines of the front panel, comfortable steering wheel. The air conditioning system is controlled separately for the driver and front passenger and is located on the center console. The dashboard is rather laconic but informative. The dials of the tachometer and speedometer symmetrically frame the scale of the fuel tank and the on-board computer, which not only indicates if the doors are not closed, but also gives information about the tire pressure.

The driver's seat has five adjustments. In the beginningIn the new version, they are mechanical, in a more expensive configuration, adjustments are made by servo drives. The steering wheel is mechanically adjustable in two directions.

The car is delivered to the market with three engines: two petrol - four-cylinder 2.2 liters and 160 hp, six-cylinder 3.0 liters and 211 hp, and a 2.2-liter HDi turbodiesel with a capacity of 142 h.p. The latter engine is paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.

And the V6 engine is aggregated only with an automatic 4-speedthat Tiptronic transmission.

Peugeot 607 is equipped with all known active and passive safety systems (anti-lock, traction control and electronic stability control). In this case, the ESP stability control system is switchable and works in concert with ABS and the electronic brake force distributor along the axles.

The car has six airbags (2 front, 2 side, 2 window), front and rear seat belts are equipped with pretensioners and force limiterstension, inside the doors there are special energy stripping elements. The picture is complemented by "parktronic", a rain sensor, a dimming salon mirror, exterior mirrors that fold when setting the alarm. Plus a sensor that automatically turns on the alarm during emergency braking and a sensor that signals a drop in tire pressure.

In 2004, at the Paris Auto Show, an updated generation of the Peugeot 607 was announced. The car received a new design of the front part of the body. Now the car decorates the bumperwith large air intakes and chrome, which is abundantly decorated with both the front and rear bumpers. The radiator grille and hood have also undergone changes. In addition, 17-inch wheels will now be included in the basic equipment of the sedan, and 18-inch wheels will be offered as an option. The length of the car has grown by 30 millimeters and is now 4.90 meters.

A new power unit has appeared in the range of engines - a 2.7-liter six-cylinder turbodiesel with a capacity of 204 hp, developed jointly with Ford. The engine is fully responsivet to Euro 4 standards and is aggregated with a six-speed automatic transmission. In addition, the petrol units have also been updated. So, the 3-liter V6 engine was upgraded. Its power is now 211 hp. and it also comes with an automatic transmission. Four-cylinder engines (gasoline with a volume of 2.2 liters (158 hp) and a diesel of the same volume (133 hp) have not undergone modernization.

All versions of the Peugeot 607 will now be equipped with more powerful brakes and an upgraded stability control system. Plus, front cushionscar safety kits will receive an adaptive mode of operation.

Frontal airbags now deploy based on the force of the collision. When the car reaches more than 10 km / h, the doors and trunk close automatically.

There are changes in the car's interior, where the front panel has undergone a slight modernization, and new, higher-quality finishing materials (wood, aluminum) are now used in the interior decoration. The instrument cluster has received new indicators, and all versions are equipped with a large monitor in the centralth console. The list of basic and additional equipment has also been enlarged. It now includes cruise control, front parking sensors, new audio systems (MP3 capable), hands-free Bluetooth and satellite navigation with integrated audio, CD changer, telephone and information system.
