The Plymouth Breeze midsize front-wheel drive sedan was manufactured by DaimlerChrysler from 1996 to 2000 at its Sterling Heights (Michigan) plant. Its predecessor was the Plymouth Acclaim. Similar models were the Chrysler Cirrus and Dodge Stratus, produced since late 1995.

The car had a 4-door body, at the base of the structure was the Chrysler JA platform. The wheelbase in the year of the start of production was 2746 mm, in subsequent years it decreased to 2743 mm. The 1996 version had a length of 4724 mm, since 1997 the length of the car has increased by 8 mm. The model is 1803 mm wide and 1374 mm high. Trackfront and back - 1529 mm. The curb weight of the car was 1443 kg. The maximum weight of the towed trailer with a load reached 454 kg.

The Breeze features exterior details from the full-size Chrysler Concorde, Dodge Intrepid and Eagle Vision sedans. Peaked taillights and a radiator grille were characteristic features.

The 1996 and 1997 models are somewhat different from each other in the center console, the presence of additional boxes for small items and the design of the rear seat.

The complete set of the machine is providedivala height-adjustable steering wheel, cruise control, air conditioning, power windows, central locking, remote trunk release button from the driver's seat, AM / FM stereo system, heated rear window and sunroof. The most complete equipment was received by the Expresso version, which was produced from 1998 to 1999 and had a sporty design of the dashboard and steering wheel.

The Plymouth Breeze was powered by 2 L A588 I4 (132 hp) 4-cylinder in-line gasoline engines with SOHC valve timing and 2.4 L EDZ I4 DOHC (150 hp). The maximum torque wasrespectively 224 Nm and 226 Nm.

2-liter engines were aggregated with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard, 2.4-liter engines - with a 41TE 4-speed automatic transmission.

The active safety system of the car included a brake booster and ABS, passive - two airbags in the front, a central door lock and a mechanism for attaching a child seat at the rear.

Although the Breeze offered softer suspension settings as well as some special equipment packages (such as the Expresso) it was positioned at the lowest level in the Cirrus / Stratus family. The consequence of this is that the model was not equipped with V6 engines, which were widely used on the Chrysler Cirrus and Dodge Stratus.

In 1997, Car and Driver magazine included the Plymouth Breeze in the list of the 10 best cars of the year.

In early January 2000, production of the Breeze was discontinued, it was Chrysler's last mid-size model under the Plymouth program. Moreover, the Plymouth brand itself has ceased to exist. Of the entire "family", the sedan remained in productions Chrysler Sebring and Dodge Stratus.
