The Rover 25 is a small car that was first introduced by the British car company in the fall of 1999 as a 2000 model and was part of the Rover 200 Series (the 200 Series was launched in 1984). The predecessor of the 25th was a model called the Rover 200 Series Mark III (R3), the chassis of which was taken as a basis and slightly improved in order to improve handling. The compact Rover 25 had a similar front end to the larger Rover 75. The Rover 25 was offered in two body styles: a 3-door and 5-door hatchback. WheelsThe base of the car was 2,500 mm, the body length was 3,990 mm, the width was 1,688 mm, and the height was 1,417 mm. All cars were front wheel drive.

Initially, four engine options were offered for the car: four-cylinder K-Series Straight-4 power units with a volume of 1.4, 1.6 and 1.8 liters and a four-cylinder diesel engine with a volume of 2.0 liters. As for the transmission, a 5-speed manual transmission from Ford was installed here. At the end of 2000, a 16-valve gasoline engine appeared in the list of available engines.ь with a volume of 1.1 liters.

Less than a year after the Rover 25 was launched, BMW sells the Rover Group to the Phoenix consortium. In the summer of 2001, the company with the new name MG Rover Group presents a sports version of the Rover 25 called MG ZR. The car received updates to the exterior and interior, as well as a sports suspension. Under the hood is a 1.8-liter VVC power unit with a capacity of 160 hp, and the maximum speed of the "charged" hatchback was 209 km / h. It should be noted that the Rover 25 model in April 2000 became the besta seller in the UK.

In 2003, Rover released a version of the Rover 25 called Streetwise. Its main difference from the base model was the new plastic bumpers in gray or black. Rover introduced this modification as a "city car". The van version of the 25th was also presented under the name "Rover Commerce".

In 2004, Rover 25 and MG ZR cars underwent a slight restyling of the exterior, in order to somewhat modernize their appearance. The main changes were made to the interior design, which wouldl completely revised.

In April 2005, production of the Rover 25 was completed. Along with this model, the 200 Series lineup was completed.
