The debut of the Fiat Ragata took place at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 1983. The car was very similar to the Fiat Ritmo with minor external changes (not counting the body type), and also borrowed almost all the technical stuffing from its “colleague”.
Three petrol and two diesel engine options were offered for the Regata. List of proposed enginesThe body was also similar to that offered for the Fiat Ritmo. It consisted of the following power units: two 4-cylinder SOHC gasoline engines with a volume of 1.3 and 1.5 liters with a capacity of 68 hp. (Regata 70) and 82 hp. (Regata 85) respectively; 4-cylinder petrol power unit DOHC with a volume of 1.6 liters and 100 hp. (Regata 100); as well as two diesel 4-cylinder SOHC engines with volumes of 1.7 and 1.9 liters, the power of which was 58 hp. (Regata D) and 65 hp. (Regata DS) respectively. An economical Fiat Regata model called Regata ES ("Energy Saving") was also released. She was equipped with severalOnly a modified 1.3-liter gasoline engine with an electronic ignition system, the power of which was 65 hp.
In 1984, a station wagon version of the Fiat Regata was introduced, which was called the Regata Weekend. It was available with petrol engines of 1.3 and 1.6 liters, and could also be equipped with any of the offered diesel power units. The suspension of the car has been strengthened due to the higher carrying capacity. This model was intended to replace the Fiat 131 Panorama.
In 1986, the Fiat Regata underwentsome external changes. The main changes are worth noting: new doors, an updated grille and bumper, as well as new door handles and wheels. The 1.5 and 1.6 liter petrol engines were equipped with fuel injectors and catalytic converters, resulting in a power output of 75 hp. and 90 hp. respectively. Diesel engines have also been slightly modified. The power of the 2-liter turbodiesel was already 80 hp. (Regata Turbo DS), and the working power of the 1.7 liter diesel engine has increased after some changesup to 60 hp, while it has become more economical. Models with this diesel engine were formerly named Regata D.
