Buick Motor Division, a subsidiary of General Motors Corporation. The headquarters is located in Flint (near Detroit).

In 1902, David Buick founded the Buick Motor Car Company with $ 100,000 from the sale of his former business.

The company released the first car designed by its founder in 1903. Having asked for financial support from W. Durant and J. Whiting, a talented engineer, but useless businessman Buick gradually let go of his company. Until 1908, he remained one of the members of the council forrectors.

Released in 1904, the Model B had a two-cylinder engine that was located under the front seat, so that the front "hood" with a "radiator" was just a decoration (the rectangular radiator was below).

The company was one of the first to join General Motors, in 1908, but remained its independent division.

The successful design of the Buick attracted the attention of American buyers and by 1908 more than 8 thousand cars of this brand were sold. In the same year, the production of the model 10 with a 4-cylinder began.ndrovym engine, which has gained wide popularity.

The first 6-cylinder Buick appeared in 1914, and in 1931 8-cylinder engines were installed on all machines of this brand. The models of the department, along with the Chevrolets and Pontiacs, have become symbols of American style in the automotive industry.

Since 1925, the company began to install 6-cylinder engines on its cars. A fairly common car this year was the model 25 - an open body of the "tourist" type on the Standard Six chassis.

In 1931-36. new car families appearSpecial, Century, Roadmaster and Limited. Buick models, along with Chevrolets and Pontiacs, have become symbols of American style in the automotive industry. The 1934 66S ("S" stands for "Sport") had a new one-hundredth motor (inline-eight) and independent front wheel suspension.

The very first car in history called "Rodmaster" in its open (phaeton, mod. 87C) and closed (sedan, mod. 81) versions was released in 1936. Since this year, each series of Buick cars, in addition to the number designation, wore also his own name. There were four episodes: 40 - Special, 60 - Century,80 - Rodmaster and 90 - Limited.

In 1939, the longest and most prestigious of Buick's was launched, an eight-seater limousine in the Limited series, model 39-90L.

1940 - an additional fifth series (50, aka Super) was introduced.

The post-war Buicks (1946) were based on the newest pre-war body and differed from the 1942 models mainly due to the radiator cladding and simplified side finishes. However, there was also a new over-the-hood emblem - "a bomb in a ring": it was possible to recognize the post-war model at first sight.

In 1948, the release of a new fashionand Roadmaster.

In 1953, the Skylark model was created. The best gift for the 50th anniversary of the company was a completely new V-shaped "eight" with a capacity of 164 hp. for the Super series and 188 hp - for the Roadmaster series.

Beginning in 1954, the Buick model lines were renewed every 2-3 years until 1961.

The cars of the compact series "Special" (Special), produced in 1961-1965, differed from the usual powerful "Buicks", but soon they were almost equal in size to the usual "Buicks".

1979 - Start of production of compact cars of the Skylark family. Followed by an example with an intervalthe Century and Skyhawk models are released annually.

1984 release of the Riviera Coupe. The first show of the Park Avenue model.

In 1987, the Regal was shown at the Los Angeles Auto Show.

1992 - Launch of the new generation of the Le Saber model.

Since 1997, the release of a new generation of the Century model began, and in 1998 the Signia model was presented.

Since 2001, the Buick division of General Motors has been producing relatively inexpensive, homogeneous, full-size, front-wheel drive mid-range vehicles for the American market.
