The fifth generation Chevrolet Corvette debuted in 1997. The family included three body types: coupe, convertible and targa (option with a removable hard top). The valves have received stiffer springs, which better cope with the increased load. In addition to increasing power and improving the fuel economy of the model, engineers have made upgrades in other areas. The new cast thin-walled intake manifold is lighter than the old welded steel pipe, and, oddly enough, is significantly more durable. The propeller shaft is now made of a special aluminum alloy and has adiameter from 55 to 63 mm. All cardan crosspieces are reinforced and have an increased resource.
