The Ferrari 400 is a two-door 2 + 2 sports car produced by the Italian car company Ferarri between 1976 and 1985. The debut of this sports car took place in October 1976 at the Paris Motor Show. The design concept of the coupe, which was developed by the design studio Pininfarina, was taken from the Ferrari 365 GT4 2 + 2 model. The exterior changes that set the Ferrari 400 apart from the GT4 included the following: redesigned front air intakes that provided more cool air to the engineyu, new taillights (two round headlights on each side) and four exhaust pipes (two on each side).

As for the technical equipment, the front under the hood of the Ferrari 400 was a 12-cylinder V12 engine with a volume of 4.8 liters, the power of which was 340 hp. The sports car had a rear drive. But the main thing that attracted the attention of buyers was the optionally offered automatic 3-speed GM "Turbo-Hydramatic" transmission, which was borrowed from the American automobile company General Motors. Into the standardthe same configuration, a 5-speed manual transmission with synchronizers was installed. Models with a manual transmission were called the Ferrari 400 GT, and those with an automatic transmission were called the Ferrari 400A (Automatic). Until 1979, 353 GT versions of the 400 were built (including 44 right-hand drive vehicles) and 770 Automatic (including 234 right-hand drive vehicles).

In 1979, the Ferrari 400 engine was equipped with a mechanical fuel injection system called Bosch K-Jetronic, which in turn reduced the engine power by 30 hp. (power compositionsilt 310 hp at 6400 rpm). And the models, in turn, were named 400i GT, and with an automatic transmission - Ferrari 400i. The maximum speed of the cars was 243 km / h, and acceleration to 97 km / h took 7 seconds and 8 seconds for models with manual and automatic transmissions, respectively.

In 1982, the second series of Ferrari 400i models came out with an updated suspension, which received gas shock absorbers. Outwardly, the new versions were no different from their predecessors.

Production of the Ferrari 400i was discontinued in 1985 when replaced byI got a new model called Ferrari 412i. For the entire production time of the 400i from 1979 to 1985. 427 GT examples were produced (including 34 RHD cars), and 866 Automatic (including 171 RHD cars).
