The first generation Nissan Cube (Z10 body) was produced by the Nissan Motors Company from 1998 to 2002. The car belongs to the class of compact tall (over 160cm) station wagons, has a shape close to cubic and is developed on the basis of the Nissan March K11. Thanks to the successful combination of a spacious interior, small dimensions and other advantages with a competent pricing policy, the car has become a bestseller in its category.

Nissan Cube was produced in both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions. The first cars were equipped with automatic and variator transmissions, according tothere were also modifications equipped with modified Hyper-CVT and Hyper-CVT-M6 variators (in the latter case, it is possible to simulate six fixed gear shifting).

From time to time, Nissan Moros Co has produced special versions of the Nissan Cube that differ in design or equipment from the base model. Some of these versions were developed by a subsidiary of Autech: Cube S Limited, Cube Rider, Cube Premium (Autech), Cube Enchante (Autech).

In October 2002, the Z11 Nissan Cube was unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show. This is the second generation of the popular car, orientedfirst of all, for young buyers. Having practically retained the same proportions (the wheelbase was increased by 70 mm, and the total length was reduced by 20 mm), the car has significantly increased in the internal volume - there is enough room for passengers both in the front and in the rear. Both the front and rear seats are made in the form of sofas, transforming into chairs, separated by wide armrests. The luggage compartment has been significantly increased compared to the previous generation.

The design of the car, in many ways repeating the appearance of theLaunched in 2001 in Geneva, the Nissan Chappo concept is very unusual. True to the model name, the body is angular with short overhangs. The rear of the vehicle is asymmetrically designed to improve visibility from the driver's seat. Cast alloy wheels have been specially developed for the Nissan Cube, made in the style corresponding to the "cubic" design theme (these wheels are optional equipment). In addition, it is worth noting the fact that the rear door, unlike the previous generation, is hinged.

In the technicalm plan, the car has also been completely updated. It is now available in front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions, powered by a 1.4-liter CR14DE engine with 98 hp. (97 in the version with four-wheel drive). It should be noted that the all-wheel drive in the second generation Nissan Cube is implemented according to the new e-4WD (electric all-wheel drive) scheme, in which the torque is transmitted to the rear wheels not through the propeller shaft, but from the electric motor installed at the rear. This made it possible to save the weight of the car and the internal volume, since it was no longer necessarythere is space in the high central tunnel for the propeller shaft, but for the sake of the electric motor it was necessary to abandon the niche for storing the "stowaway".

As well as for the previous generation, a special version of the car, developed in collaboration with Autech (a subsidiary of Nissan Motors Co) and called the Nissan Cube Rider, was presented at the same time as the "idle" one. In 2003, the production of an extended version of the Nissan Cube began, which received its own name Nissan Cube3 (Cube Cubic). The wheelbase increased by 17 cm allowed the designers to place the third row in the cabinseats.

In 2005, for the Nissan Cube and Nissan Cube3 cars, they began to offer the new HR15DE engine with a volume of 1.5 liters and an output of 109 hp.
