Opel (Adam Opel AG), a German automobile company, part of the General Motors concern. Produces cars, minibuses, minivans. The headquarters are located in Rüsselheim, Germany.

The company was founded in 1898 by five Opel brothers and named after their father, Adam Opel, founder and owner of a sewing machine and bicycle factory. After the death of his father, his sons began production of cars, having mastered production based on the chassis and engine of the French company Darracq.
