The debut of the Acura TLX sedan took place in March 2014 at the New York Motor Show. The car was presented to the Russian public at the end of August at MIAS-2014. It is noteworthy that this sedan replaced a couple of models at once - TL and TSX.

Specialists from design studios in Los Angeles and Raymond (Ohio) worked on the exterior of the car. Their joint efforts gave birth to a stylish and dynamic appearance of a sedan. There were not so many serious differences between the conceptual and production versions of the model. When preparing the car for the conveyor, it istaught a simpler front bumper, large rear-view mirrors with integrated LED-turn signal repeaters and smaller wheel rims.

Acura TLX looks impressive, aggressive, original and modern. The "predatory" muzzle, crowned with a sharp nose and narrowed optics, creates the image of a serious car. The full Jewel Eye LED headlights are subtly inscribed between the powerful bumper and the finely embossed bonnet. The front is also adorned with a branded radiator grille, foglights with LEDs, a splitter along the edge of the bumper and the slot of the lower air intake. The body contours are distinguished by soft and refined lines, smooth contours and transitions from one body surface to another. The sportiness of the body profile is added by the original rapidly rising sill line and the huge wheel arches. The rear end of the body is no less attractive than the full face and profile of the sedan. It is characterized by a solid bumper, a compact trunk lid with a spoiler and graceful lampshades for dimensional lighting withabout LED filling.

It is worth noting that the Acura TLX is a large car, with an overall body length of 4831 mm and a wheelbase of 2775 mm, while the sedan rests on the ground with huge wheels - 265 / 35ZR20 tires on fashionable and stylish alloy wheels of the 20th radius. The ground clearance (clearance) of the Acura TLX is quite acceptable for Russian road conditions - 139 mm.

The salon of the novelty has a classic 5-seater layout and offers huge space in the front row. But the back is a little cramped, that in the legs, that is above the head. Ergonomics withthe bosom demonstrates the highest level. All important systems and controls are located in the driver's comfort zone. The basic version of Techno received a 4-cylinder in-line "atmospheric" with a displacement of 2.4 liters, equipped with direct fuel injection, 16-valve timing and variable valve timing system. Its maximum output is 208 hp and the upper torque limit is 247 Nm. The engine is aggregated with a unique 8-speed gearbox - the Japanese have prepared the world's first robotic gearbox for the Acura TLXA twin-clutch torque converter (DCT) obk that guarantees unrivaled smoothness and high traction potential at the start.

The top engine was a 6-cylinder petrol "aspirated" V-shaped configuration with a working volume of 3.5 liters. In addition to direct injection and variable valve timing, this engine is also equipped with a Start / Stop system and a VCM system that turns off half of the cylinders at low loads. The 3.5-liter unit produces 290 hp and its peak torque isthat falls at around 355 Nm. As a gearbox for the top engine, the Japanese offer a new 9-range "automatic" ZF with an electronic gear selector instead of the usual selector, as well as a manual shift function by means of paddle shifters.

The TLX fuel tank holds 65 liters of gasoline. It is made of high impact plastic for light weight and durability. Located in a protected area in front of the rear suspension.

As standard, the sedan is equipped only with front-wheel drive, supplemented by the Precision All-Wheel Steer (P-AWS) system,with rear wheels to improve handling, maneuverability and stability on the road. The same system, which slightly turns the rear wheels inward, allows the sedan to brake optimally, especially in emergency situations. As an option for the V6 version, you can order all-wheel drive with an advanced Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system of a new generation with an active rear cross-axle differential, hydraulic actuators and a retuned traction vector control system. As a result, the torque supplied to the rear axle (athis is 45% on a straight line and up to 70% in a corner), can be distributed between the wheels in any ratio, up to 0: 100.

The Acura TLX sedan received a monocoque body made of high-strength and ultra-high-strength steel, which are selectively diluted with elements of aluminum (hood, front cross member, subframe, etc.) and magnesium (engine mounts and power steering). Modern technologies and materials have made it possible to provide a rather large sedan with a curb weight in the range of 1600-1650 kg. There are also zones of programmable deformation in the body structure, located in pthe front of the car. The Acura TLX suspension is completely independent (with Amplitude Reactive Damper shock absorbers, which have pistons with two different-sized valves): MacPherson strut front, multi-link rear. Disc brakes are used on all wheels (ventilated at the front), and the electronic parking brake has an automatic hold function, which makes it easier to travel on slopes and in conditions of frequent stops. The rack-and-pinion steering gear of the sedan is supplemented by an electric booster.

In Russia, the car is offered in two complete setsand: "Techno" and "Advance". The standard equipment of the model with the basic engine includes LED optics, a system for storing the settings of the driver's seat, mirrors, IDS parameters and climate control settings, two screens on the center console (one of them is touch-sensitive), an audio system, navigation and an active noise cancellation system.

As the basic and additional equipment, the Japanese sedan received a rich set of electronic systems responsible for safety (collision avoidance and automatic braking systems, adapive cruise control capable of operating at low speed, blind spot monitoring and lane monitoring), electronic handbrake, electric drive, heating and ventilation of the driver's and passenger's seats, keyless entry and engine start with a button, dual-zone climate control. The multimedia system with a 7-inch color touch screen in navigator mode is able to plot a route taking into account traffic jams, will help control the iPhone using the integrated Siri Eyes Free system, manage radio settings, help listen to musicku and talk on the phone.
