The Chevrolet Tracker is a mini SUV that was produced between 1989 and 2004. The production of this model was initially carried out by Suzuki and the car was named Suzuki Escudo (Vitara), but later the car was purchased by Chevrolet (a division of General Motors) in Canada and received the name Geo Tracker (Chevrolet Tracker was named since 1996). Until 1997, the same model was also released under the Asuna and Pontiac brands, called the Sunrunner. The Asüna / Pontiac Sunrunner was only sold in Canada.

In 1999, the second generation of off-road vehicles appearsChevrolet Tracker. In fact, it was another relative of SUVs from Suzuki, namely the Suzuki Grand Vitara, which was borrowed by General Motors and sold in Latin American countries under the name Chevrolet Grand Vitara, but in Mexico, the second generation Tracker retained its name Chevrolet Tracker. The Tracker lineup ceased to exist in the United States in 2004.

The main difference between the Chevrolet Tracker and SUVs in its class was its particularly strong and lightweight chassis. Also, the Tracker model was very comfortable and convenient to implement.a very reliable all-wheel drive system, specially designed for off-roading, with a light engine and transmission located in front of it, which is connected to a special transfer case. The car had a reinforced suspension and a steering box with a very strong circulating ball. In front of the engine, a front differential was securely mounted with horseshoe-shaped transmission mechanisms connecting the coil spring of the front hubs to the differential case. Rear suspension, as befits a lightweighterozhnik, was equipped with springs. As a result, this is a slightly harsh, but very durable and reliable suspension. However, the second generation Chevrolet Tracker already had a more simplified pinion suspension that was much less reliable and costly to repair. As a result, the SUV has become less popular among the rural population and off-road enthusiasts.

As for the engines, for the first generation of the Chevrolet Tracker, a 4-cylinder petrol power unit with a volume of 1.6 liters and a capacity of 95 hp was proposed... And for the second generation of Tracker SUVs, there were already two gasoline engines in the list of proposed engines. It included the former 1.6-liter 4-cylinder 95-horsepower petrol engine and the 130-horsepower 2.0-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine.

The external differences of the second generation Chevrolet Tracker are in giving the car more streamlined shapes, which did not significantly change the concept of the low-key exterior design of the SUV. Both in the first and in the second generation, the car was offered in 2-door and 4-door trim levels.
