The Rover Tourer station wagon of the European class C has been produced since January 1995.

The exterior of the Rover Tourer gave this car enough personality and, at the same time, left the impression of solidity typical of cars of a class above. A characteristic feature was the stylish chrome trim of the radiator false panel with the emblem and the predatory "squint" of the headlights.

The body of the Rover Tourer is a 5-seater 5-door. Its dimensions are 4370/1680/1400 with a wheelbase of 2550 mm and a track gauge of 1475/1470 mm. The mass of the equipped car was 1125 kg, the permissible total weight was 1650 kg, andthe mass of the towed trailer could reach 1000 kg. The minimum volume of the luggage compartment is 430 liters, the maximum is 1410 liters.

The internal dimensions of the sufficiently roomy car interior are 1870/1380/1085 mm. The design of the rear seat back is separate, thanks to which it was possible to place additional, and, if desired, long cargo in the car.

The Tourer was richly stocked; the standard equipment package included power windows and a sunroof, also equipped with an electric drive, alloy wheels, front and rearfog lights, rear wiper, leather upholstery and wood trim, height-adjustable steering column, audio system with AM / FM radio and CS radio and central locking. An air conditioning system was provided as an option.

The Rover Tourer 1.6 SLi was equipped with an overhead camshaft R4 16V power unit with a volume of 1.59 liters and 112 hp. at 6300 rpm and with a torque of 138 Nm at 5200 rpm. The fuel supply system was a multi-point injection, the gas distribution mechanism was DOHC. With such a motorm Tourer accelerated to 100 km / h in 10 seconds, and the maximum speed reached 190 km / h. The consumption of AI-92 gasoline in the urban cycle was 8.6 liters per 100 kilometers.

The Rover Tourer 2.0 Gsi was equipped with an overhead valve with two camshafts, a 2-liter R4 12V gasoline engine with a maximum power of 136 hp / 6000 rpm and a torque of 185 Nm / 2500 rpm. Accordingly, the car was more dynamic. The acceleration time to hundreds of the Tourer with a 2 liter engine was 8.7 s, the maximum speed was 200 km / h. At the same time, the car was more economical: the consumption of AI-95 in the city, yesthe manufacturer's name was 8 liters per hundred kilometers.

There was also a diesel version of the Tourer; it was produced from September 1995 to February 1997. The 4-cylinder 8-valve turbo diesel with a volume of 1,769 liters had a power of 88 hp / 4300 rpm and a torque of 180 Nm / 2500 rpm. The maximum speed of the car was 180 km / h, and the time to accelerate to 100 km / h took 13 seconds. Combined fuel consumption was 5.7 liters.

The engines were located transversely under the hood and were aggregated with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission, with the 2-liter Tourer was completed only with "mechanics". The car was equipped with front-wheel drive.

The front suspension design included a wishbone, spring-loaded hydraulic struts and an anti-roll bar; the rear suspension of the De-Dion type consisted of a connecting link rod, coil springs and a transverse stabilizer.

The steering was of the "gear-rack" type with an amplifier. The active safety of the car was supported by the ABS system, passive - by tensioning seat belts for allpassengers, front airbags and door stiffeners to provide protection in side collisions.

The front brakes of the Rover Tourer were ventilated discs, the rear ones were discs. The standard tire size is 175/65 R14H or 185 / 55V R15.

In February 1999, production of all versions of the Rover Tourer was completed. Later this word was used to refer to station wagon versions for the Rover 75, which began production in 2001.
