For sale I am offering my very rare Jaguar/Daimler XJ40 in red, It is powered by the legendary 3.6 straight six engine and has a very smooth 4 speed automatic gearbox with the famous J gate. The car is finished in red and has a striking red full leather interior with lovely walnut cappings on the doors, dashboard and centre console.Being the Daimler model there are plenty luxury items including:

The car is overall very presentable with just the usual age and mileage related marks, it is very solid underneath (photos available on request), the usual areas where these rot such as the bulkhead, inner wings etc are very solid too.
The interior is in good overall condition, the headlining is a bit saggy in places, the interior is dry including the boot. The previous owner has changed the wheels and tyres from metric to imperial due to tyre availability the spare is still metric however. There is no sign of any fluid leaks anywhere and the car drives very smoothly and pulls very well through all gears with a good kickdown when required. The vacuum fluorescent gauges all function correctly, the graphic display module is working (most have been disconnected), it does however tell you some spurious faults such as low brake pads or a bulb failure warning, the trip computer functions as it should. The car has only covered 85,000 miles and has an MOT until May 22 with NO ADVISORIES. I have just fitted a new battery which is under guarantee and I have the receipt from Halfords. The only real issues I can find are that when you start the car from cold it takes a moment for the idle speed to settle down and you have to open the fuel flap using the lever inside the boot, please also bear in mind the car is over 30 years old and there are imperfections but is a very presentable example of a car that is becoming increasingly rare, all owners manuals are present along with 2 full sets of keys and a third ignition/door key.
I have described the car to the best of my ability but I’m not a mechanic and it is up to the buyer to satisfy themselves that the car is what they want prior to bidding. It is sold as seen with no warranty implied or given.
