Seller Description
For sale is my well-maintained, nicely appointed 1997 Kawasaki Concours ZG1000. Clear Louisiana title in my name and in my possession. The motorcycle has around 26,400 miles on the clock, which is low for a Concours. Mileage may increase some, as I am riding this motorcycle until it sells. This is Kawasaki's fast, reliable and cheap answer to the German sport-touring machines that had ruled the roads starting in the mid-1980s. It is in very nice shape mechanically -- you could fly in and ride it home.Has several useful farkles: cruise control, throttlemeister bar ends, voltmeter, heated grips, dual helmet locks on the license plate frame (allowing you to easily lock a pair of helmets while the hard cases are attached), 12V outlet under the saddle, right-angle tire valves.
Bolts on the fuel tank cap, front brake fluid cap and clutch fluid cap have been replaced with stainless steel allen head bolts. Quick-disconnect fuel tank hardware installed. (Meaning you don't need tools to pull the tanks.) Lockable factory hard cases are included. Has a rear shock from some Kawasaki sportbike, but I forget which one. It works well, at any rate.
I have recently (in the past 500 miles) performed a number of major service items on the motorcycle, including:
* Oil change (20w50 full synthetic)
* Oil filter change* Air filter change (K&N in the stock airbox)* Valve adjustment* Carb sync (purrs like an angry kitten now)* All hydraulic fluid flushed and refilled with DOT4* Gear oil changed* New battery (some fancy gel battery)* New radiator fan switch
It runs really well. Not a trailer queen or show bike, but fast, smooth and comfy, and I rate it an 8/10 cosmetically, 10/10 mechanically. Saddle cover has a tiny tear (a straight line about an inch long) near the edge on the lower left side. Minor scratches in plastics from use. Some hardware has surface rust from age. Exhaust crossover under the engine has rust. (This is typical.) Fair lowers were cracked because of age and have been removed. (Some people think this is a better look. I personally like it because it allows easy access to perform maintenance.)
Tires (some cheap Chinese brand installed by the previous owner) have thousands of miles left on them and are in good shape.
Included are the original owner's manual, Clymer shop manual, factory tool kit, a pretty nice magnetic tank bag and a Cee Bailey aftermarket touring windscreen. (Original factory screen shown in the pics -- it has been cut down by the previous owner, a fairly common modification. I'll put whatever screen you prefer on the motorcycle.)
I have owned this Connie about a year and a half, and I love it. Selling only because I have too many other motorcycles and want to free up some space/capital.
