The car's debut took place simultaneously at two exhibitions - in Tokyo and Los Angeles, both of which opened their doors to visitors on November 20, 2013. The manufacturer has high hopes for the Macan and plans that this compact crossover will continue the success story of the famous Cayenne, but in a more convenient compact form for maneuvering in tight cities. Initially, the car's working name was Cajun (Cayenne Junior), but in February 2012 the company announced a new name - Macan, which means tiger in Indonesian.

Car builton the same platform as the Audi Q5. At 4681 mm long, 1923 mm wide and 1624 mm high, it is 165 mm shorter, 16 mm narrower and 82 mm lower than Porsche's flagship SUV. The difference in wheelbase reaches 88 mm (2807 and 2895 mm, respectively). The stylistic resemblance to the Porsche Cayenne definitely defines the car's appearance. Aggressive front part with family features, elongated muscular "body", coupe-like silhouette. The dynamic profile is provided by a low roof, sloping rear window and a more elegant pattern of rear optics. In addition to the original headlights in the front of the carIt is dominated by large air intakes that emphasize the sporty character and hint at the powerful engine under the bonnet.

The engine range of the car at the time of the start of sales consists of three efficient engines, each of which boasts an excellent combination of power and fuel consumption. Two gasoline bi-turbo engines with a volume of 3.0 liters and 3.6 liters with a capacity of 340 and 400 hp, respectively. The latter strikes with dynamics: the acceleration time to 100 km / h is 4.8 seconds, and the maximum speed is 266 km / h. Diesel engine owith a volume of 3.0 liters develops 258 hp. Accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 6.3 seconds. The maximum speed is 230 km / h. When the optional Sport Chrono Package is selected, the acceleration time from 0 to 100 km / h is reduced by 0.2 seconds. Porsche Macan with 3.0 l petrol and 3.0 diesel engines was named Macan S, and with 3.6 l engine - Macan Turbo. There is only one gearbox so far - a seven-speed PDK semi-automatic transmission with dual clutch. In the future, Porsche plans to launch the Macan with a manual transmission.

Three chassis options were developed for the Macan at once. Macan S and Macan S Diesel s are fitted with conventional spring suspension as standard, while the Macan Turbo comes with adaptive dampers as standard. As an option, an air suspension is offered with variable ground clearance from 180 millimeters for confident high-speed movement on a smooth road, up to 230 millimeters capable of withstanding serious off-road conditions.

The all-wheel drive transmission in the Macan is not based on a center differential, as in the Audi Q5, but using an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch in the front axle drive. That is, the torque is constant overIt is directed to the rear axle, and the front receives its share of the moment at the command of the electronics. The rear axle differential in Porsche is equipped with an electronically controlled lock to improve the stability of the car when accelerating on slippery roads, and the Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus system redistributes the torque between the right and left wheels using the brakes when cornering.

The Macan salon is made in a corporate style. The tilted center console with slender rows of buttons, flowing into a high tunnel, and, of course, the proprietary prSelectable panel. In the combination of the dashboard there are three "wells": in the center, as usual, there is a tachometer, to the left of it is a speedometer, and to the right is a 4.8-inch multifunctional color display. The backrest of the rear sofa folds in a 40:20:40 ratio. The luggage compartment volume is 500-1500 liters.

The Macan comes standard with front and side airbags (plus curtains), braking and stability assistance systems, 18-inch wheels, bi-xenon headlights, LED running lights, rain and light sensors, climat control and power driver's seat. Among the options, we note LED headlights, a panoramic roof, an "advanced" audio system with 16 speakers and a subwoofer, a multimedia complex with navigation and a set of security systems (tracking dead zones, the limits of the occupied lane and road signs).

Porsche Macan is produced at the Leipzig plant. This car has every chance of success. It is beautiful, technological, practical, and even more affordable than its popular "big brother" - the Cayenne.
