These shaft drive triples were quite unusual in their day given most other three cylinder bikes were two stroke apart from the Triumph Trident.
Smooth and torquey engines plus shaft drive made for a very charming tourer with great looks, not to be confused with the custom, US version. This Roadster model general remains beneath the value of more highly priced machines such as it XS650 sibling so represents great value.
This example came to us after it had passed through a few hands who never recommissioned it, hence it had been off the road for many years. Recorded mileage is just 9,000 but we have no idea of whether this is genuine

Engine: Lovely, quiet and smooth. Electronic ignition, unlike earlier models The exhaust is aftermarket and load, hence has been baffled.We had the bike running off a bowser so did not ride it.Since replacing the petrol tank, we have not had it running as it spluttered and backfired.The point is that the engine can run!
Patina on the petrol tank. A really clean replacement tank might be worth the investment.General paint is petty good.Chrome is good apart from specking on the front mudguardExhaust is discoloured.Seat cover has some imperfectonsBrakes are free and seem ok.We have the V5 registration document
Attention needed:*Tyres are aged so should be replaced .Rear tyre must be old but has plenty of tread but the front tyre is very poor*Front forks.One chromed fork leg has pitting so should probably be replaced , or at least rubbed down.Fork seals may need replacing. Wemoto sell fork legs new*Stubs needed for rear indicators.
